Who is Mrs. Evelyn?

First and foremost, thank you for visiting my blog! Your time spent here is appreciated, and your thoughts and opinions are embraced and welcomed. The world is our beautiful, messy home filled with glorious, varying feelings and perspectives, and I write to you with open arms and love in my heart.

My greatest joy in this life is being a wife to my dear husband, Alex. Our love story is unique, and as my husband said, "If you can't see God's hand in us being together, can you see God's hand in anything at all?" To that, I respond that I see God's hand in it all. To that I say I find my strength in our Heavenly Father, and it is as His child that I write to you.

I am many things. In order to better understand my complexity, I ask that you look past my exterior and into my soul. Know that I love and respect humans and that I fight invisible battles that are oh so very real. Through grace, compassion, and a fighting spirit for the betterment of our lives, I share these blogs with you.

I began teaching in 2005 after attending The University of Georgia and obtaining a degree in Middle School Education. My teaching experiences span from elementary school through high school, and I have stories of immense joy and tremendous pain. My Masters of Education is from LaGrange College, and I studied Curriculum and Instruction and wrote a thesis on the integration of literature and language arts and have many a personal opinion on this matter if ever you wish to discuss it with me.

Teaching has been a roller coaster much like my life, and I have to say that my dedication is to children, tweens, and teens. No matter what, you are my reason. You are my "why."

Parents, I wish I was one. My heart aches, and when I share parental advice, it is from my fifteen plus years of working with children and parents. I share my words of wisdom with openness and grace and never from a place of judgment. I wish I was in your shoes. Know that you are blessed.

If you're still reading and still deciding if this blog location is a spot in which you wish to visit, I'd like to share with you that I have strong opinions about growing up, real feelings, embracing diversity, advocating for youth and mental health, and I also have a passion for music and the arts. Each blog entry begins with a lesson from a song. Every blog post is written from a song lyric followed by a personal story. I then support my opinions with evidence from research and close with my final thoughts for you while circling back to the song explored in the beginning.

I'm a connection away. Currently, I serve and support families through a faith-based educational company that I created called Mrs. Evelyn Educates. I'm a believer that if what you wish to be does not exist, create it. Let us not complain; let us build our visions into reality.

May this blog inspire you to share your light with the world in the way you are uniquely designed to do. There is only one of you, and you matter.

Love,

Mrs. Evelyn Corley
